Maundy Thursday Service

What Is Maundy Thursday?

As we journey through Holy Week, Maundy Thursday marks a sacred and powerful moment in the life of Christ. The word “Maundy” comes from the Latin mandatum, meaning “command,” referring to Jesus’ words to His disciples in John 13:34—“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you.”

On Maundy Thursday, we remember the night Jesus gathered with His disciples for the Last Supper. It was a night of deep significance: Jesus washed their feet in humble service, shared a final meal with them, and instituted the Lord’s Supper—reminding us of His body broken and His blood shed for our salvation.
